Following a review of the Laws of the Game earlier this year and subsequent approval from the Executive Board, the updated Laws and Technical Document have been produced and can be accessed on the website https://fipfa.org/lawsofthegame/

They have also been sent to all member nations today along with the minutes from our recent Congress. Our Director of Sport, Sophie Bevan and all at FIPFA would like to thank everyone for taking the time to offer their suggestions and opinions.

The Laws and Technical Document will be followed and used at all International events from now on.

【JPFAチーム紹介とは？】
新型コロナウイルス感染症の渦中、弊協会主催のパワーチェアーフットボールチャンピオンシップジャパン2020の中止をはじめ、電動車椅子サッカー競技においても自粛を余儀なくされてきました。しかし、国内でのコロナウイルスの感染が広がってから半年以上が経ち、ようやく何らかの形で活動を再開するチームも出てきています。

このような厳しい社会情勢だからこそ、できることを見つけよう。各チームの取り組みを共有して、励まし合おう。そして、そんな私たちのことを知ってもらいたい。この状況でもできることがあるんだと、勇気を与えられる存在になろう。そんな気持ちで始めた企画です。

Fédération Internationale de Powerchair Football Association
8 November, 2020


The Congress for the Fédération Internationale de Powerchair Football Association (FIPFA) was held virtually via Microsoft TEAMS on Saturday, 7 November, 2020.

This annual gathering of the member nations covered updates from each of the three Zones, including the efforts to keep the athletes and officials engaged during the restrictions brought on by Covid-19.

The European Zone has been busy branching out to new countries, hosting an international classification clinic, creating podcasts and the EPFA News broadcast, as well as planning several events for 2021.

The Asia/Pacific/Oceania Zone held their APO Cup in Sydney, Australia and has been working to develop the sport in more countries within the Zone.

The Americas Zone held two events, the Copa Libertadores and the APFC Americas Cup in Rio de Janeiro.Post Covid-19 shutdowns, the Zone hosted on-line training sessions for referees and coaches.

Also, the Congress discussed the postponement of the next FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup to October, 2022, to be held in Sydney, Australia. An introduction of the Local Organising Committee revealed the well-versed and experienced background of each member, as well as his or her interest in powerchair football.

This Congress approved the relocation of both the FIPFA Headquarters and the bank account from France to England.

Sophie Bevan, the acting Director of Sport, was elected by the membership to retain this position for a four year term. Sophie stated the following:
I’m really pleased to have been elected to be Director of Sport for the next 4 years. Having been appointed by the board a year ago, it’s nice to have the support of the membership to continue what I’ve started and remain part of a fantastic sport that is a huge part of my life and has been for a number of years. Thank you all! 2020 has been an unprecedented year for our sport and everyone involved and I’m looking forward to seeing what 2021 and beyond brings and seeing everyone getting back on court when it’s safe to do so.

Status reports were also given by the department heads for referees, classification, anti-doping, and technical aspects of the game.

Jon has being playing Powerchair football for 18 years winning multiple trophies with his club Aspire and captaining England in Several Major tournaments including reaching the World Cup final in Paris 2012.

Most recently captaining England to EPFA Nations cup glory in a historic come back from 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go, 2-2 and beating France on penalties in 2019. One of the best game’s in Powerchair football I’ve ever seen, full of skill and a courage’s fight back from England’s side.

Jon also recently won English Premiership player of year, adding to a list that already makes him one of the best Powerchair football players in the world today🏆

Jon is a true leader and it was a pleasure having him on. We talk all things Powerchair football, the evolution of the sport and what keeps him striving to be the best so many years on from being introduced to the sport.
