Are you interested in climate change - regardless of whether you know loads about it? We hear a lot about it in the news but it isn’t always obvious what we can do to act. If you are interested and want to make a difference in your local area, then get involved in our free Authority to Act training programme. The Authority to Act programme has been created to build power, equip and upskill everyday people to be able to engage their local council on climate change. Councils exist to represent you at a local level, meaning it’s an opportunity for you to make a real difference. However it’s not made easy for people to be able to understand their local councils and you can create change. Which is why we created the programme and offer it for free. We designed this training programme to be accessible for anyone and everyone, all we ask is that you have an interest in climate change and a desire to make a difference! We will support you over the course of a year, training you on a variety of important areas. You can find out more details on our website. In terms of commitment, it would look like a two hour training workshop from us, a follow up call to decide the plan of action for your council, and then we’d get straight into meeting the council. We can even be there to support you in meetings with your local council. The content is always tailored to suit the specific needs of the group and the local area, so for example, we could build in your existing experiences of working with the council, if you'd find that useful. It’s run by Hope for the Future, a charity that specialises in training people to have effective conversations with their political representatives. The creation of the Authority to Act training is the culmination of six months’ research and a pilot year of delivering the training across the country, and with average feedback scores of higher than 9/10. We now want to deliver it to as many people as possible, within your area! We're happy to do all the legwork, but it'd be great if you share within your community networks. Tag anyone you think would be interested below 👇 If you are interested in taking your council from climate emergency to climate action contact us at [email protected] or find out more on the website: www.hftf.org.uk/councils.
