We start the series with the Tsintsabadze group v. Georgia🇬🇪 regarding police ill-treatment and ineffective investigations.

Being tortured or subjected to inhumane and degrading treatment while in police custody, or worse, finding out that a family member has died in police custody, is one of the most terrible experiences. All applicants in this group of cases from Georgia have experienced such circumstances.

This calls for better quality of mental health care for internees & for basic training for prison officers working in a psychiatric environment.

🆕 Communication on Mammadli v. Azerbaijan🇦🇿

The applicant, Anar Mammadli, has submitted a new communication to the CM.

He states that the Government has yet to implement the measures set out in the Interim Resolution of 5 March 2020 that would reverse the violations deriving from his arrest and conviction.

Mammadli requests that the CM use other measures available, and ultimately infringement proceedings.

Sejdic & Finci v Bosnia & Herzegovina🇧🇦

This case concerns ethnic-based discrimination and the ineligibility of persons not affiliated with one of the “constituent peoples” (Bosniaks, Croats or Serbs) to stand for election to the House of Peoples and the Presidency.

Minority Rights Group International urges the CM to adopt an interim resolution calling on the Bosnia and Herzegovina government to provide a timeline for implementation with specific deadlines for any task force, working group or other body mandated by the government to undertake the necessary reforms.
