The World Association of Chefs' Societies (WORLDCHEFS) www.worldchefs.org is a global network of chefs associations first founded in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. The venerable August Escoffier was named the first Honourary President. Today, this global body has 96 official chefs associations as members that represent over 10 million professional chefs world wide. The biennel congress is a hallmark tradition of WORLDCHEFS and has been organised in over 20 cities across the world throughout its illustrious 86-year history.

Teams of chefs from 40 countries competed for the right to participate in the finals of the Global Chef Challenge 2020.
In the final, at the Expoforum exhibition venue in St. Petersburg, the strongest chefs will meet. They are winners of regional competitions in three categories: Global Chefs Challenge, Global Pastry Chefs Challenge and Global Young Chefs Challenge. The host country of Worldchefs Congress receives a wild card and enters the final without having to participate in the qualifying competitions.

Worldchefs has partnered with The Culinary Ability Awards, an international non-profit organization that raises awareness in society for people with disabilities through professional skills development in the culinary industry, joining in their vision to celebrate difference and create opportunities in the industry in which people with disabilities can thrive.

To help address this and to advocate for integration beyond inclusion for people with disabilities, a Worldchefs Culinary Ability Awards Committee has been established and will be led by Awards founder Chef Chris Sandford as Committee Chairman. The aim is to provide career opportunities for individuals with special needs, and to deliver passionate and valuable team members to professional kitchens struggling to retain staff. On January 27, the results of the French Michelin were announced.
The first star was awarded to Le Jules Verne, located at the Eiffel Tower. «I would like the cuisine to be simple, delicious and refined. If perfection does not exist in this world, this is not a reason not to try to achieve it», comments restaurant’s chef Frédéric Anton.

The new literally and figuratively green pictogram—referred to as “the green clover”—looks, as the name implies, like a five-leaf clover, and it's intended to “promote the chefs who have taken responsibility by preserving resources and embracing biodiversity, reducing food waste and reducing the consumption of non-renewable energy,” Michelin wrote in the announcement.

Today, February 5, 2020, Italy is celebrating its seventh National Day against Food Waste!

"According to data provided by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), today about one-third of all the food produced for human consumption is still lost or wasted every year. A total of 1.3 billion tons, equally divided between industrialized countries (670 million tons) and developing countries (630 million tons), with a total loss of almost $1,000 billion worldwide. In contrast, over 820 million people are still undernourished and suffering from hunger."
