ISHA Paris

ISHA Paris This is the official page of International Students of History Association (ISHA) Paris section. The International Students of History Association (ISHA) is an international non-governmental organization of students of history.

Our goals are to facilitate communication and provide a platform of exchange for students of history and related sciences on an international level. ISHA believes that international perspectives constitute an important part of every student's education. Membership is open for students (undergraduate through PhD) from all disciplines and backgrounds with an interest in history and historical science. Throughout the academic year, the various member sections take turns organizing several seminars and an Annual Conference. These events usually last several days with up to a hundred student PARTICIPANTS from around Europe, and comprise workshops, discussions and presentations on various topics, but also offer a cultural programme with visits and excursions. ISHA's Journal Carnival is a yearly publication and is open to contributions from all students of history and related sciences (not only ISHA members).

UPDATE CONCERNING THE AC 2017 (Please read and share as widely as possible!)

Dear All,

Two weeks ago we, the International Board and Council, were informed that the 2017 AC in Strasbourg had been canceled. To this end, we sent out a call for sections to step in and take on this event.

The deadline for this has now passed and we can confirm that we confer the status of international seminar on the Eger AC pending approval by the GA in Budapest.

We would like to send our warmest thanks and congratulations to ISHA Eger, we all owe them tremendous gratitude. Thank you also, to all those sections that have agreed to provide assistance. The hour is late, and it will take a concerted effort to make the conference the success it deserves to be.

Please still discuss and consider within your sections any way you could provide assistance to the Eger team. I am sure that any help will always be welcome.

Kindest regards
Ben Harding
On behalf of the International Board and Council.

WELCOME TO THE INTERNATIONAL BOARD: Lilla Zámbó - ISHA Vice-President 2016-2017.
Dear ISHA People, my name is Lilla Zámbó and I have the honour to be vice-president of ISHA lnternational of 2016/2017. I am in the 3rd year of my PhD in History in Joint Doctorate programme (by benefitting the scholarship of the French Government) between the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest and École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales of Paris. My research interests focus on Social, Cultural and Urban History in 19th-20th century, and more precisely on the relations between Cultural Heritage and Identity-building processes. I write my PhD thesis about the Preservation History and ‘Heritagisation’ of Art Nouveau Architecture. I graduated from the Erasmus Mundus European Master Course TEMA: Identity and Development in 2013 after studying for 2 years in Budapest, Prague and Paris. I have fallen in love with ISHA in the same year and since I’ve been actively participating in the life of the best student association. I immediately joined ISHA Budapest during its re-establishment and the organising committee of the 25th ISHA Annual Conference, Budapest 2014. Furthermore, I’m the former vice-president of the Budapest section president and founding mother of ISHA Paris and one of the main co-ordinators of the ISHA Balaton Seminar and the Paris Extra Seminar. Besides History and ISHA, I’m passionate about long walks, talks and laughs as well as dancing, watching old French movies, and playing piano that I’ve been practicing for 16 years. I’m very excited about the new term as one of the vice-presidents and I’m ready to continue the great work of the previous officials with the new IB and Council to develop and promote ISHA and to raise its academic standards in 2016-2017. VIVA ISHA!

WELCOME TO THE INTERNATIONAL BOARD: Giles Connolly - ISHA Vice-president 2016-2017.
Hello, I am Giles Connolly, I am just starting my MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies at University College London. Before that, I undertook my BA at the University of Kent, where I focused primarily on medieval and early modern society and culture. I am equally proud and excited to be one of the Vice-Presidents for ISHA. As an organisation, ISHA has done so much for me, I have found nothing but support and encouragement for my academic enterprises, it has broadened my horizons and taught me the pleasure and value in studying history. I plan to continue the excellent work of our predecessors and to ensure that everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy the same experiences that have meant so much to me!

WELCOME TO THE INTERNATIONAL BOARD: Ben Bmf Harding, president of ISHA International 2016-2017.
Hello! My Name is Ben Harding and I am the proud President of ISHA International for the term 2016/2017. I am a third year undergraduate at Canterbury Christ Church University. International and cultural understanding is not something that is heavily promoted in Britain - so when I had the opportunity to join ISHA and help organise our annual conference that would host students from all over the world, I jumped at the chance. I have enjoyed meeting many of you and I look forward to meeting those of you of whom I have not had the pleasure thus far. VIVA ISHA.

The first ISHA seminar in France since 1993, entitled “Diversity as a marker of the temporality of the city. coordinated by ISHA Paris.
Organizers: ISHA Lausanne, Saint-Étienne, Strasbourg, Eger and Rome.
Coordinators: Alexandre Faure (treasurer of ISHA Paris), Lilla Zámbó (president of ISHA Paris)
Thank you very much for all the participants for making these few days unforgettable and truly heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful members of the organising group: Alexandra Leonzini, Alexandre Faure, Anthony Grally, Cédric Gottfried,Clara Peterlik Penelope, Delphine Pandazis, Diana Sellyei, Imre Tarafás, Lila Ré-Monteiro, Ralph-Samuel GrossmannSofia Victoria Perez, Séveric Yersin and Thomas Justin.
Thank you for the pictures: Dorottya Bartha, Alexandre Faure, Vicky Buck, Yasmin Buchreiser Yas Buch), T.J. Laber Herbert Gronemeier), Tanita Seifert, Claire Pryet Cl Aire), Lilla Zámbó.
The topic of the seminar was “Diversity as a marker of the temporality of the city “and we wanted to provide a high academic level event with a relatively new research angle and a great ISHA experience to new and old members too. Indeed, our seminar was honoured not only by new and very enthusiast students from different disciplines (welcome EGEA!!! Michael De Witte, Timo Ha), but also by more experienced ISHA members, including the founding fathers of our beloved association: Zoltán Zarándy, European Parliament advisor and Gábor Czoch, Associate Professor at the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest. We would consider the Paris Seminar as a historic event of ISHA from the level of the cooperation between the organiser sections too. ISHA Paris, being a young and relatively small section, would not have been able to make this event successful without the great help and generous financial and professional support of other ISHA sections, being Francophone or not: ISHA Lausanne, Saint-Étienne, Strasbourg, Eger and Rome.
Moreover, our sincere gratitude goes to János Havasi, the Director of the Hungarian
Institute in Paris (Institut hongrois de Paris), to Franciska Dede, the Secretary for
Education and Science of the Hungarian Institute, and to every member of the staff
for helping us and for securing a free entry for our group to the representative halls of
the Institute during the Opening Ceremony.
We would also like to express our thanks to Marie-Vic Ozouf-Marignier,
Associate Professor, Director of Studies at EHESS and Scientific Manager of the TEMA Erasmus Mundus European Master Course in Paris for her contribution to making the Seminar possible.
We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to all of you and also to our sponsors and partners who made this event possible: Association des Étudiants de l’École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (AEHESS - Raffael Robert), Association des Étudiants en Lettres (AEL) de l'Université de Lausanne, École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), European Parliament (Office of Tamás Meszerics, MEP), Fédération Française des Associations d’Étudiants en Histoire, Histoire de l'Art , Archéologie et Arts (FFAEH), Fédération des Associations d'Étudiants (FAE) de l'Université de Lausanne, ICOMOS France – Conseil International des Monuments et des Sites, Mairie de Bagnolet and Mairie de Montreuil.
P.S. Feel free to tag yourself, share or use the photos. Let us know, if you want to remove any of them.
