Today is #givingtuesday and we're coming together for global generosity. Refugees are among the most vulnerable population affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The reality of their situation does not stop when the rest of the world does. We invite you to join us as we reach out our hand to our refugee neighbors...check out our catalog and choose exactly how you'd like your donation to be used! Every contribution counts.

We can still sing and dance because we can still have JOY in the middle of difficult circumstances. If you're feeling down today, try putting on some of your favorite music for a few moments of self-care. And if you're like us...try having a dance party at home! There's something about moving that brings us back to joy 😉 💃

Anyone else excited to share a meal (and a hug!) with their people soon? Try inviting your friends 'over' for a virtual dinner party this week. Let's get creative in connection during this time!

Shout out to all of the kiddos out there adjusting to new routines. For refugee children who go to school in France, this adjustment can be even harder. They are often the first in their family to speak the French language, and their parents may not be able to help with their now at-home school work because of that. We're thankful for our team members who have stepped up to help the kids in our community!

How many of you felt like this when you heard that confinement was extended another month? Friend, you're not alone! We're all experiencing waves of emotions, and that is okay. What are some ways you're learning to manage your emotions in a healthy way during this time?
Here are some of the things we're doing (add to the list below!):
1. Making gratitude lists
2. Taking walks
3. Breathing exercises
4. Prayer and meditation
5. Facetime and Zoom calls for deep conversation

Our goal is to break isolation, and to help be the bridge between refugees and our society. That's taking a whole new perspective as we "isolate" in this season. It's easy to want to truly isolate in times like this, but we're getting creative to stay connected despite it all. It doesn't look the same as it did, but the goal is still the same- that people would know they are welcome here and that they would be brought into community. What are some ways you're learning to stay connected in "isolation"?

Anyone else super grateful for technology these days? 🖐️ 🖐️ 🖐️ We've been loving connecting daily and seeing each other's faces. However, not all refugees have the same access to technology, or electricity to charge the technology they do have. (With businesses and cafes closed, the gap is now wide) With the digital switch we're all experiencing, this is crucial! We've found solar-powered chargers that allow them to charge their phones by sunlight (BLESS YOU TECHNOLOGICALLY INTELLIGENT PEOPLE). If you'd like to donate a charger to a refugee so that they can stay connected to community during quarantine, you can do so through our catalog! Check it out here: https://buff.ly/2Urwk0U

One of our favorite things is hearing the good news that someone has received their papers to stay in France! With canceled rendezvous and such a time of uncertainty, it can be increasingly stressful waiting to hear the status of asylum. We're so glad we have stories of hope to cling to in times like this! If it can happen for one, it can happen again.

20/03/2020

We are so thankful that technology makes it possible to remain connected despite global health changes and the need to practice social-distancing to keep ourselves and others safe. However, a big portion of our community relies on open cafes and associations to be able to charge their devices. Now with everything closed in Paris, this is not possible and being "connected" digitally is not a given. We've found solar powered chargers that will allow them to charge their devices by sunlight and remain connected to our community until we can meet again in person!

Donating a charger can keep a refugee connected in a time where isolation begs to take over! Let's keep them connected. You can visit our catalog to donate a charger here: https://buff.ly/2Urwk0U

We are overwhelmed by how our community is responding to immediate needs. 50 meals prepared by an Iranian family in our community to give to refugees without shelter. Thank you thank you thank you! We're adjusting day by day to the ongoing changes in place due to COVID-19 and it helps to have so many people willing to be love in action!

16/03/2020

As many of you know, the spread of COVID-19 has lead to tough decisions from government. This includes the closing of businesses, restaurants, cafes, and large gatherings. We are seeing that many of the associations who provide resources to our refugee friends, including the only meals they receive in a day, are not able to provide during this time.

We're going to do our best to fill the gap for those in need through meals, external batteries, tents, and more. Will you join us? We've added more options on our catalog to meet these specific needs! You can choose what you'd like to provide (meal box, tent, etc), the quantity, and donate. Visit the catalog to donate! https://athome.paris/en/aide/food-pack/

Every Thursday we go to the parks where refugees gather when they arrive in Paris. Our goal: sit with them and get to know them. We think relationship is key to almost all things. It takes time, especially communicating across languages and cultures, but it's worth it! If you'd like to find out more, message us to join us tomorrow!

Sometimes we have to say our goodbyes and see-you-laters to the people we meet and begin to do life with. The reality is, not all of the refugees we meet have the chance to settle and integrate in France. That's why we were so happy to reconnect with one of our friends while our team was in Sweden last month! And we are thankful for organizations advocating for refugees across Europe...we need each other.

THANK YOU to every person who partnered with us financially to purchase the truck for our project! We reached our goal and the renovations have begun! Shout out to our team who has been working hard (for real 💪) to get it ready to serve refugees arriving in Paris. We can't wait to see the finished project!
