“As Dramatic As It Sounds, This Was My Destiny”: Vogue’s Jessica Diner Shares The Spiritual Journey Of Her Conversion To Judaism

A beautiful Shabbat read; British Vogue’s beauty and lifestyle director Jessica Diner completed her Orthodox conversion in 2013. Here, she shares what compelled her to embark on the journey – and why she now can’t envisage her life any other way.

“The kindness and gratitude that was – and still is – shown to me by the Jewish community is a debt that I feel I can never repay, and so I feel strongly that part of the trade is to speak out against injustices in the hope that we can break the mould. Because in the end, love conquers all. I am testament to that.”

Now the question is; who’s having her speak at their next program?

“An Orthodox conversion is a process that you have to want to embark on from the depths of your soul. It requires dedication and desire beyond any relationship”

Global Jewish Reflections | Finding Hakafot in the COVID Era – JDC

Is there any Simcha in this year's Simchat Torah?

"In a way, it’s quite fitting that we’re unable to carry out the tradition of hakafot to its fullest this year. In missing the sheer physicality of the holiday, we are forced to focus on the passage of time and our interaction with it. That’s what the Jewish festivals have been about for me these past months — providing an increasingly much-needed series of punctuation marks to an otherwise prosaic, muddled existence.

In recognizing the importance that Judaism places on time and its progression, I hope we can experience joy this Simchat Torah and beyond. We’ll be dancing together again soon, I’m sure."

Hear from Junction multiplier, Jake Berger, about his time as a JDC JDC Entwine Fellow in Helsinki!

On Simchat Torah, we conclude our communal reading of the Torah and begin the cycle again. Many communities mark the holiday by unrolling the Torah scroll in its entirety. Remember when we thought this would be over by the summer? And now summer has passed and it's not so clear what comes next...will we ever be able to plan? Will we ever go back to "normal"?

We figured we all might need to work on our resilience to get through the long haul. For us to be better people in our work, relationships, and projects, we need to strengthen our physical, emotional, and mental resilience.

We have some spots left so please register ASAP for a six-week program containing mindset coaching, breathing techniques for endurance, and writing techniques for clarity.

Yeah? Us too.

Join us tonight for World-Making or How I'll Spend my High Holidays we'll have an opportunity to talk or just listen and grapple with what it means to be in this moment and how we can think about some sort of future.

Do You 10Q?

Shana Tovah! During these days of awe we'll share a resource that we use every year and helps us frame our previous year while thinking about the next.

10Q from Reboot asks you a question each day, your answer is then sealed in a digital vault for you to return to next year and evaluate. It's really nice to see where you were at the previous year and then create intentions for the year ahead. Check it out!

10Q emails you a question a day for 10 days. Afterwards, you send your answers to the secure online vault. One year later, your answers are unlocked and returned and the process begins anew.

Celebrate the Jewish High Holy Days, Pandemic-Style

“The shofar from Auschwitz was blown at a time when the holidays were being celebrated and observed under the rarest of circumstances, under the most duress... To use it during this pandemic creates a through-line of that same kind of dedication to observing the holidays no matter where we find ourselves.”

How will you HEAR👂 and HEED🧠 the sound of the Shofar this year?

The Downside of Incredible Acts of Kindness
