As sport resumes after lockdown, it's time to level the playing field for women and girls

"As sports resume, this offers a chance for decision makers to change dominant narratives and structures away from the male-dominated model" say S. Leberman, N. LaVoi, S. Shaw.

In this article, the three professors and lecturers, discuss the importance of sport for society and the need to keep working on equality between women and men in sports and sport management after the global health crisis.

Sports have been out of action during the coronavirus lockdown, but the recovery period is a chance to redefine sporting success beyond winning and profit margins.

Le 24 janvier, on célèbre la Journée internationale du sport féminin - Women Sports

As a Foundation dedicated to women's sports media coverage in France and internationally, the celebration of the "Women's sport international day" means a lot. This day has been created in France 6 years ago as a response to the underrepresentation of women's sports in the media. Today even if there have been achievements, we need to continue to promote women's sport practices and their representation in the media to reach equality and visibility ! 💪📺

Jennifer Cohen had a dream when she was a little, become the University of Washington football coach so when she was in 5th grade, she wrote a letter to the former coach Don James telling him one day she will replace him. He told her it was not going to be an easy path, given the lack of opportunities for girls.

Our story – Act for women sports

The Alice Milliat Foundation is the 1st foundation for women sports in Europe and aims to expand its activity internationally. It was officially launched on Match 29th 2016 with the support of the then French President François Hollande. Hosted by the French Sport Foundation, it is recognized to be of Public interest.

It was founded to promote media coverage of women sports, which is growing year on year but still has a long way to go. With this in mind, the Alice Milliat Foundation was created in tribute to the most honourable symbol of women sports.

In 2016, the Alice Milliat Foundation has been awarded by the program Erasmus + and was able to create the first European Day of Women's Sport on May 7th 2016, with the support of a consortium of four other European associations: ISCA (International Sports and Culture Association Denmark), UISP (Unione Italiana Sport Per Tutti - Italy), Kenniscentrum Sport (Netherlands) and the Foundation of the Sporting Club (Portugal).
