Hello to everyone! In the quest to advocate for youth and children, I came across a 16 year Nafisa, a primary 2 girl who happens to be a victim of teenage pregnancy in Wa in the Upper West Region. Upon my investigation & interview with the girl, i came to a realisation that, Nafisa after getting pregnant because of the unfavourable economic condition she found herself was even worse off when the guy who impregnated her and his family intentionally abandoned her for the rest of the struggles. The only money Nafisa could remember getting from the family since she became pregnant was 25ghc, that was even after she gave birth. I had to travel all the way from Accra to the Upperwest to take her to the hospital for antenatal and other expenses all at my personal cost. I did my best to talk to the family for support but all efforts proved futile. To that extent, I had no option than to refer her pitiful situation to the *Department Of Social Welfare and Children Protection of Ghana* , where the family was this afternoon charged to pay an amount of *ghc700* for the 9months they abandoned the girl and also an amount of *Ghc100* every month until the child is of age or face the law. The two families involved were proposing marriage between the 16year girl and the irresponsible guy who impregnated her but I refused making them understand even the law is not in support.. This is because being a teenage mother does not make one useless neither does it render one educationally incapacitated. Celebrities like Sofia Vergara, Anna Nichols Smith , Maya Angelous etc who were ones teenage mothers have been able to manoeuvre through the difficulties. Today, people look up to them for inspirations and she isn't an exception. She can also rise up and become the Samira Bawumia through education. That is what I fight for. One person cannot do it alone. But collectively, we can help make the life of others better. There is an ongoing competition and I humbly seek you to like my project by clicking on this link👇👇https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1428401513880256&id=100001312647818 #SayNoToTeenagePregnancy #SayNoToEarlyMarriage #GirlPowerProject #ConcernLifeFoundation #LydiaAlhassan
