The American Club of Paris

The American Club of Paris The American Club of Paris is one of the oldest non-diplomatic American institutions in France (and perhaps the world).
The American Club of Paris, one of the oldest non-diplomatic American institutions in France (and perhaps the world), has always had a dual purpose: to provide Americans living in and around Paris with opportunities to meet, and at the same time, to preserve the special ties that the United States has had with France for more than two centuries. Over the years, this double role has attracted well-established and influential members from a variety of callings: business, politics, the media, diplomacy, and the arts. Most of the Club’s members are U.S. citizens, some of them long-time residents, while others are professionals on short-term assignments. The rest are mostly Europeans who seek to preserve business and social contacts made either during visits to the U.S. or through trans-Atlantic professional and social relationships.

This mixture of nationalities and personalities has forged the Club’s reputation as an ideal forum for Franco-American dialogue by the prominent speakers featured at its regular luncheons at the prestigious Cercle de l’Union Interalliée. Recently, these speakers have included such outstanding figures as: U.S. Ambassador to France Craig Stapleton, Irish President Mary Robinson, U.K. Ambassador to France Sir John Holmes, General Pierre Gallois, French Minister of Foreign Affairs Bernard Kouchner, Saint Gobain CEO Jean-Louis Beffa, author William Pfaff III, AXA CEO Henri de Castries, President of France Televisions Patrick de Carolis, Theater Director Jerôme Savary, French Judge Jean-Louis Bruguière, CEO Pierre Cardin, and Maestro Kurt Mazur.

Mission: During the Thanksgiving Dinner in 1904 of the Universities Club, membership of which was limited to alumni of American Universities, under the auspices of General Horace Porter, American Ambassador to France and Honorary President of the Universities Club, William S. Dalliba was elected by acclamation as President of the American Club of Paris. The course aux flambeaux, by which the sacred flame of Minerva was transmitted to successive generations in ancient Greece, was thus revived, and the spirit of Franklin still lives in our hearts. During the Great War, the American Club rendered inestimable service, not only by keeping alive good fellowship among Americans, both resident and visiting, but especially so between Frenchmen and our own countrymen. The American Club thus developed logically, with the growth of a young giant, into the powerful and patriotic institution as it exists today.

Great moments captured at The Grand Steeple - Chase of Paris!🐴🐴 May 19th, 2019

Our ACP members witnessed the best races of the season. More importantly, they saw the UK and France’s best horses competing on steeplechases and hurdles.

Our event included: general entry to the race field including parking, brunch with wine and coffee with fabulous panoramic views, as well as private access to the Tribune overlooking the river jump, a legendary obstacle.

This surely was a fun Sunday with the American Club of Paris!

A very entertaining afternoon at Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor production with the Tower Theatre Company!

Hidden in the Bois de Boulogne, in the Pré Catalan garden, the Théâtre de Verdure du Jardin Shakespeare is one of the most beautiful open-air theaters in the world. The audience sits on a large lawn around which are planted the flowers, trees and plants which are mentioned in five of Shakespeare's plays. Each year since 1992 the Tower Theatre Company has performed Shakespeare in this delightful setting.
