Les Amateurs virtuoses! 2018 in Cape Town (short) - YouTube

https://youtu.be/WBba3T085X0

Two years ago, in November 2018, in a world that seems like a complete other world from today's perspective, Les Amateurs virtuoses were in South Africa for an extraordinary festival in Cape Town and Stellenbosch.

Concerts, masterclasses, joint projects with local non-profit organizations promoting young musicians from the townships, and a grand finale with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO).

From tomorrow on and for the next 5 days at 7pm French local time, we will re-publish each evening one of the 5 concerti (or concerto movements) that were performed on that very special night of November 18th 2018 with the CPO, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us amateur pianists.
Stay tuned and enjoy!

We very much hope to be back in South Africa one day, when all this nightmarish situation is over.

Thank you to all our fellow pianist friends who accepted to share videos over the last few weeks in spite of sometimes difficult recording conditions at home.

Tonight, two of our friends decided to take up a difficult challenge and play a sonata for 2 pianos by Mozart, each in their own confined apartment, coordinating with the sole help of their headphones.
Confinement shouldn't be an excuse for not playing music together, although it does make it somewhat more challenging...
Thank you Claire & François for your contribution to our online festival!

Nathalie BOUNHOURE
