#2weeksago The last day of our Training Session we focused on the Future. The participants presented their projects, the final output of the activity, discussed on the follow up and evaluated the activity in order to use the advice for future projects. At the end of the day, we have a beautiful Closing Ceremony in the terrace of our venue (Rivotorto Retreat House Malta) and then we had the funniest awwwards ceremony where we congratulated every participant for just being her/himself.

#2weeksago The 9th of September was a very special day when we met our experts.
At the first session we had the chance to meet with expert from the past of Jeci-Miec: namely three former European Coordinators, Maria Koutatzi, Mihai Florian and Maximilian Niessen but also our biggest support Johan Vanhove. At the beginning of the second session we were informed about our important partners European Youth Forum (YFJ), European Youth Foundation(EYF), COMECE Youth Platform and then we had the chance to learn more about our bigger families, IYCS and IMCS, from Innocent Odongo (IYCS Secretary General) and Ravi Warnakulasooriya (IMCS President).
These two sessions were very emotional because we learned about the real motivation and the inspiration of people who have worked for the movement.
In the afternoon, we headed to Valletta where we were informed about EU funds by the Maltese European Services and then we explored the city with a city rally game! What a great way to experience the intercultural dimension!

It was a great way to start a training session week!

The theme of ‘Season of Creation 2021’ is “A home for all? Renewing the Oikos of God”. The major goal of this theme is to demonstrate our commitment to ensure a safe environment for everyone. The environment consists of air, soil, water, and living objects. The most natural environment for human beings is where people can take a breath without taking any harmful substances. Where the soil and water are not polluted with plastic or any other harmful element. Where just not only human beings but also other creatures can live in a healthy way. Unfortunately, the reality is not the same. Each year air pollution has become the cause of seven million deaths all over the world. Middle income and lower-middle-income countries, such as Bangladesh suffers the most of its consequences. Soil and water also losing their purity. Plastic use has become one of the major threats to the environment as well as wildlife.
At present, global warming is a very alarming issue. The planet is careening toward the warming of 2.7 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels where global temperatures should remain below 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels to stave off the worse consequences of climate change. To save the world and to make it a better place for living in the future, we must act to stop the environment from being polluted. Planting trees, reducing the usage of plastics, spreading awareness, could help to save our environment.
Being a member of Bangladesh Catholic Students Movement, I along with other members have taken multiple initiatives. We’ve planted a lot of trees which were not sufficient to change the world. Individually and collectively, we need to take initiatives like this. Just planting trees doesn’t end our duties toward our environment. We should be more thoughtful before any action. We should know how to use and reuse the plastic we use. We should know how to take care of our own mother earth.
The government of Bangladesh should take effective policies to prevent air, water, and soil pollution. They should focus on reviving the rivers which are dead. But again, these are not the duties of the government only. It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the world in which we all live.

Hello everyone...!!! I just joined after watching the imcs video on YouTube...

Pope Francis called upon everyone to dedicate the year 2017 to “prayerfully and actively to banishing violence from our hearts, words and deeds, and to becoming nonviolent people and to building nonviolent communities that care for our common home” (Message for World Day of Peace 2017). Responding to the call of the Holy Father, the Newman Center, the Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Hawaii – Manoa, hosted a Lenten series on how we can live out the call of the pope in our daily lives. The series focused on examples of nonviolence such as Thomas Merton, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King Jr, Ghandi, and Hawaii’s last reigning monarch, Queen Lili’uokalani. It also featured international peace advocate, Fr. John Dear. As tension in the Pacific escalates due to the bravado between the presidents of the USA and North Korea, the United Nations met to negotiate a treaty that would make nuclear weapons illegal and moving toward its complete elimination. The draft text of what would become the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons was approved by 122 member-states (1 opposed and 1 neutral). The teaching of the Church on nuclear weapons has been consistent and goes back to Pope Pius XII. Though historic, it is not surprising that the Holy See (Vatican) exercised its right to vote for the first time since entry to the United Nations as a “permanent observer” in 1964. The residents of Hawai‘i and other Pacific Island peoples are caught in between the rhetoric and instead of standing idle, concerned residents and students organized an event at the University of Hawaii, hosted by the Newman Center, on the new Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. There was a screening of the documentary film, “Gate: A True Story”, of three Japanese Zen monks who were on a mission to return the “Atomic Flame” to the place of its inception, the Trinity Test Site in New Mexico. Following the film, students of the Manoa International Relations Association presented a petition in calling upon the governments to support the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The petition will remain open until Human Rights Day 2017, at which time the petition will be sent to leaders of inter-governmental organizations, the government of the USA, Hawaii State government, and religious leaders. To show your support for Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, visit the Newman Center’s website (scroll down to the petition): http://www.newmanhawaii.org/church/nonviolence.
