Winners of this new orchestral composition award will benefit from the talents of composer Augusta Read Thomas, pianist Marie-Ange Nguci and conductor Rebecca Tong.

IRCAM and the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France have joined forces to launch the Élan Award, a new international composition competition for an orchestral work. In addition to a cash prize, the winner will receive a joint commission from the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France and IRCAM for a new 10-minute work for solo instrument and orchestra with electronic music.

Open to all composers born after January 1, 1990; the call closes on Wednesday, November 3.

Working Creatively with Machines

All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace is a 1967 poem by Richard Brautigan that describes the peaceful and harmonious cohabitation of humans and computers. Fifty years later – following the technological revolutions brought about by the internet, big data, cloud computing and deep learning – Brautigan’s vision resonates singularly. It compels us to rethink our interactions with machines, even in regards to the intimate act of artistic creation. In collaboration with its American partners, France’s Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music (IRCAM) invited participants to discover some remarkable examples of possible artistic relationships between humans and computers during two seminars featuring researchers and artists who are building this new deal.

"In this talk, I present my doctoral research work moving this vision from the lab into a real-world testbed, focusing on a large-scale environmental sensing system, massive environmental audio dataset, and audio AR wearable devices I developed. In our 577-acre wetlands testbed, users are able to superimpose the past onto the present, observe distant effects of their actions, and explore events from different perspectives. An AI system perceiving sensor data and audio alongside human users can subtly direct user attention by weighting stimuli without explicitly interrupting. In studies, I found that certain digitally-produced illusions, caused by the melding of the digital sense media and the physical world, would resolve into qualitatively new perceptual experiences. Through HearThere, a bone-conducting AR system many users could not separate from their natural hearing, intuited discoveries ranged from self-evident seasonal variations to the intricate discovery of wildlife migration patterns." - Gershon Dublon

The future of effective music learning for beginners is combined with pattern recognition technology. The technology uses the numbers ,symbols ,images which allow the brain to perceive musical information in a different way. Jingle Bells How does a child project the music information in brain which he see .This makes us wonder what type of information is faster transferred from bipolar cells to ganglion cells? The ability to read music signs is due to specific stereoscopic properties of the visual system. Five horizontal-longitudinal lines cause the phenomenon of interference in photoreceptors, which creates difficulties in mixed reading a melody along the y - vertical and x - horizontal. In numeric sequences the visual perception flows along the x-horizontal ,which facilitates the input of tuning trajectory and visual adaptation. The physiological rationale for using of Digital Key to code and decode a melody is as follows: children begin acquaintance with numbers already at preschool age ,when they are taught to count, and this system is mastered quite well by children, since it is used often in everyday life. But the generally accepted music grammar is new for them and , naturally, requires some additional period of time to be acquired by children. It is for that reason in the initial period of musical teaching children inevitably spend a lot of time and efforts to read a melody written down in music signs. Naturally, it causes psycho-emotional discomfort , slows down the rate of learning and , as a result, reduces the child's interest to the music. Therefore, in the initial period of teaching ,besides work with the generally accepted music grammar, it will be useful to substitute it with digital system for some time .This does not mean that we want to do without standard musical grammar, but in the primary stages of musical learning, the method of recognizing melody by number sequences is undoubtedly useful, as it allows children to learn faster and easier. Role of neural plasticity in complex functions of brain during specific cognitive tasks Pattern Recognition Flexibility The future of effective learning is combined with pattern recognition technology. It is known that difficulties in perception of any information, including musical one, cause strain of the main functional systems in the child’s body. Statistics and practice show , the period of learning with using of the generally accepted music grammar is pulled for several years. At early stage of learning up to thirty percent of children lose their interest to music subject and leave study. This situation is explained by the excessive load arising at the first contact of the child with a complex format to learn a piano. In order to protect the health of parents and children , in response to COVID -19 , we propose to replace face-to-face music training with remote music learning. We would like to share a tech - resource that can both reduce the risk of severe disease and simplify the methods of initial music training. The Project "Reflection " is aimed at studying the somatosensory integration of nerve signals in the main functional systems of the child’s organism : the central nervous system, auditory ,muscular , visual , using electrophysiology measurement techniques - ENG, EMG,EEG, Audiometry. Method EEG allows to research the difference of the integrated synaptic signals , to make the comparative diagrams of dynamics of initiated spikes while perception music metric and digital patterns, plus the time of fatigue of synaptic structures and cells - neurons of cortex is determined . Method ENG - EMG completes one another, joints the visual analyzer with the neuro-motor function of fingers and proves , from scientific point of view , the development of muscular fatigue in hands depending on the quantity of eyeballs’ fluctuations. Method Audiometry allows to research the increment of sensitivity to the functional sounds ( pure-tone ,high - low pitched brain waves, beta range) plus the behavioral audiometry. Où que vous alliez dans le monde, vous rencontrerez des politiciens et des politiques. Meurtre en masse de visons, tuer des ours et des cerfs pour le plaisir. Les usines polluent les rivières, les mers avec du plastique, les gaz fossiles rendent l'atmosphère irrespirable, font fondre les glaciers, font fondre le permaforst et émettent du méthane dans l'atmosphère, augmentent les incendies de forêt suite au réchauffement climatique, etc. L'enrichissement d'une poignée, l'appauvrissement du population mondiale, les guerres sans fin. À ce stade, le rôle de l'art est de montrer aux gens sa propre laideur et sa déformation; essayant ainsi de réaliser une illumination.
Bonjour à tous Connaissez-vous bien la musique classique contemporaine ? Nous cherchons désespérement depuis des mois le titre de cette oeuvre d'avant 1966. "Nous" c'est un groupe d'amis passionnés de musique classique. Cette musique existe dans un documentaire de la RTS sur la Rome antique, nous avons contacté la RTS, ceux qui auraient travaillé dessus... rien n'y fait. Personne ne l'a créditée.
