For the past 30 years, we have provided free services to our clients to ensure their safety, enhance their quality of life, and enable them to continue to live independently in their own homes. We accomplish this through several programs, including friendly visiting, medical and shopping companion services, and socialization groups. These services are provided entirely through the committed efforts of our trained volunteers who enable isolated seniors and adults with disabilities to attain a sense of dignity, safety and well being. We recruit, screen, train, and match volunteers with clients for all of our programs.

April is sexual assault awareness month. Older women with a disability are three times more likely to experience a sexual assault. If you suspect sexual abuse of an elderly person, the best thing to do may be to make sure that they have regular contact with someone they can talk to and confide in safely.

READ THIS | Fraud is the number one crime against older Canadians. Though people of all ages can be victims of fraud, older people get targeted more than others. Some of the reasons are that they are often home during the day to answer the door or phone, they can be more trusting and they may not have family or friends close by to ask for a second opinion. https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/corporate/seniors/forum/fraud-scams.html
