To run a summer camp, you need a campsite! For TTG, we have been so lucky to work with @moorlandskids and their incredible site near Dorset, ON.
Yesterday, we talked about the critical role of counsellors, today, we say thank you to the Moorlands staff! They keep the camp running, feed us, keep campers safe in the lake, lead high ropes, climbing, hiking, swimming, archery... too many activities to list.
We are so grateful for this partnership, and can't wait to get back to Moorlands once the pandemic allows.

Summer Camp Counsellors are made up entirely of volunteers. They donate a week of their lives, often taking time off from work to be there for every camper. 24/7 counsellors are there to listen, to be a friend and cheerleader. Let's not forget though, they are also responsible for the safety and well-being of every kid under their care. It is a huge responsibility and we are so incredibly grateful for every volunteer who has ever given their time to make camp a memory that will never be forgotten. THANK YOU!

In 2013 TTG started running a week long overnight summer camp. It has become one of our most beloved programs and we are taking the week to honour the incredible friendships, learning experiences and all of the fun that everyone who attends camp comes away with.

The Frontline Team are a group of 4. Since April 1st, 2020 that small but mighty team has had 2893 service sessions with families. This number does not even take into account support groups and informal interactions, and of course because of Covid, all most all of these interactions have been remote.
Their hard work and commitment are a marvel to witness. Today, we say thank you to the Frontline teams of past and present.

Seriously. From day 1, volunteers have played a huge role at The Teresa Group. As COVID has restricted the kind of work volunteers can do right now, it brings home just how valuable and essential volunteers are to the organization.
Over the years volunteers have been drivers, event staff, board members, tutors, toy drives, admin help, food and clothing sorting, fundraising, group leaders, camp counsellors and a friend to staff and family. The list could go on and on.
Thank you to everyone who has ever given a their time and energy to The Teresa Group. It doesn't work without you.

Deciding to disclose your HIV status is a daunting prospect for many. The pervasive stigma that still surrounds HIV and the challenges of explaining an illness to still developing children makes disclosure a scary prospect for many families. How do you tell your child that you are HIV positive, or that they are?
The Teresa Group has been helping families answer this question for many years, our first "How do I tell my kids?" booklet was printed in 1999. There is no one right answer for everyone, but everyone benefits from a support system when it comes to disclosure.

The first support group that would come to be known as "Leading the Way" was held in 1996!
LTW uses arts-based programming to address social isolation, develop peer support networks and build confidence.
The activities of LTW have changed over the years, but it continues to be a safe space for kids and teens affected by HIV.

It's day 1 of 30 Days of TTG, and in honour of International Woman's Day we are taking it back to the start to recognize the incredible woman who founded The Teresa Group.
Penelope Holeton (1941-2015), saw the need to recognize and support the unique challenges and heartbreak faced by families living with HIV and AIDS. From her basement, The Teresa Group was started. Developing relationships early on with the team at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Penelope made sure that families did not have to face HIV alone.
Today we say THANK YOU to Penelope and all of the amazing woman who have been a part of The Teresa Group for the past 30 years.
