Spay/neuter of cats available for low-income Kamloops residents | BC SPCA

Research shows that, as an individual, you can reduce the cat overpopulation problem by spaying and neutering your cat. Fixing your cat will also be one of the best things you can do to protect your cat’s health. Your cat will fight less, your vet bills will be lower and your fixed cat will be healthier and happier.

For cat guardians in the community who are unable to afford the surgery, you may qualify for our program. Apply online at https://spca.bc.ca/ways-to-help/take-action/animals-in-the-home/cat-overpopulation/spay-neuter-available-kamloops/ or call 1-855-622-7722 (option 6 on the menu).

The BC SPCA Kamloops & District Branch currently has funding available for free spay/neuters for cats from the North Shore and Brocklehurst neighbourhoods.

Keeping the coast clear | BC SPCA

Sad, but true - the production of plastic personal protective equipment (like masks) more than doubled in size to meet increased demand during the pandemic. This means an estimated 1.56 billion facemasks entered the ocean in just 2020.
This #WorldOceanDay, learn more about the dangers of plastic and other pollutants on the ocean, and what you can do to help to our marine animal friends: https://spca.bc.ca/news/keeping-coast-clear/

“To a sea turtle, a plastic bag suspended in the water looks an awful lot like a jellyfish floating along,” says Meghann Cant, animal welfare educator for the BC SPCA. “One wrong gulp could cost the turtle his life.” In fact, plastic bags are second only to lost or abandoned fishing gear for...

Ban the shipping of horses overseas for slaughter | BC SPCA

Most Canadians don’t know that Canada is one of the only countries in the world that breeds, raises and transports horses overseas to be slaughtered. These gentle draft horses are bred and raised to be shipped abroad. Since 2013, more than 40,000 horses have been exported out of Canada. Please take a moment to join thousands of Canadians to send a clear message to the federal government - horses deserve better.

Kamloops has a cat crisis. What does that mean? Out of all 35 BC SPCA Community Animal Centres, Kamloops has the largest number of cats and kittens coming in and many of them are kittens from unwanted litters. Stray cat complaints and reports of feral cats are constantly coming in and there is a wait list for cat surrenders coming into the shelter. There are simply too many. Watch this video to get some ideas on how you can help your community!

Those pups that were seized, will they be possibly put up for adoption??
KADO is still MISSING! (Valemount, BC) (husky/malamute, bigger body, flappy ears and curly husky tail) It’s been more than a week since we lost him. Please keep your eyes open ❤️ REWARD: 1000$ (no questions asked) He hasn't been adventuring for months now. He even left his little sister at home. He was gone at 6:00 a.m. in morning on May 12. Next day we got a call from local Jasper lady that she spotted dog similar to Kado walking with two girls. We have reason to believe that he may still be in the possession of these people. Right now he could be anywhere. We don’t want to accuse anyone from stealing him just trying to get more information where he could possibly be. The Calgary, Jasper and Valemount RCMP is involved and they are now also investigating our case. Running away is very out of character for him hence the reason this is so very worrisome. Any sightings or information would be very much appreciated. Thank you all so very much in advance. You can message us on Facebook Hanna Konecna or Ryan Smith with any information or call 250-893-3677 or (780) 860-9321. And please SHARE!!!
Why would you guys do this?
