We invite you to join us for our Morning Worship Service this week as we look at Psalm 23 for part 4 of our study in Psalm 23. This Psalm is one that has comforted the hearts of millions of people over the centuries.
We are looking forward to our services tomorrow, June 28. During the 11 AM Morning Worship Service we are starting a 6 part study on Psalms 23. Pastor Alan Vaal will be continuing in his study of the book of Genesis during the 2 PM Service. One of the gems of the Bible that millions of people have drawn comfort from is Psalm 23. We are taking a 6 week look at this Psalm taking one verse per week. This passage goes far beyond just a “feel good” piece of poetry. This psalm instructs us where our comfort and peace come
We were shocked and saddened yesterday to hear about the tragic crash of one of the Snowbirds here in Kamloops. It hit especially close to home because watching their flyover as part of “Operation Inspiration” just the day before had been an exciting event for our children. To know that one of the people we had seen in the air is now dead and another injured is very sobering. As the pastor of Berean Baptist Church I would like to extend our condolences to the family of Captain Jenn Casey and her colleagues and friends in the RCAF, as well as our prayers for the full recovery of Captain Rich MacDougall. We would also like to express our great appreciation to the First Responders and other members of our community who responded to the crash.
Our family lives only about 10 minutes away from the neighborhood where the plane went down. To see how close it came to hitting people on the ground, even crashing into the side of a house, but with no other injuries or fatalities is amazing. I’m sure that as people on that quiet street started their morning yesterday they had no idea how near they could come to losing their lives. Times like this are a stark reminder of how uncertain our time on earth is, and how unexpectedly death may come. The Bible says: “For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” (James 4:14).
I am a paramedic and 911 ambulance call taker & dispatcher as well as a pastor, and in my years spent working in both fields I have seen sudden death strike people of all ages. And yet, as we go about our busy lives, so little thought is given to what lies beyond the grave. Jesus Christ said: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”(Mark 8:36). Friend, if you have never considered your immortal soul or where you will spend eternity, can I plead with you to do so today? We read in the Bible that “It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
If you have to stand before God and give an account of yourself based on your own merits you will surely fail, for: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). That means that we have all fallen short of God’s standard for entrance into heaven, which is sinlessness. “And there shall in no wise enter into it (heaven) any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life” (Revelation 21:27). When we realize that it is sin that has directly or indirectly caused all of the suffering and death in this world, we come to understand why God cannot allow it into a perfect place such as heaven. However, God's standard of perfection is impossibly high for any one of us, and our “good deeds” will never erase our bad. That's why Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, came to earth; lived a perfect life; then died on the cross to take our sin and its punishment upon himself. He offers to exchange his righteousness for our sinfulness. “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness”(I Peter 2:24). “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (II Corinthians 5:21).
This gift of forgiveness and eternal life in heaven is offered freely: all we must do is believe and receive. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16,17). If you would like to know more please message me and I would be happy to speak with you personally. I also invite you to watch this video:

There will be something for the whole family, with special activities for the children, nursery care, and a free BBQ following the service. We hope everyone will stay to visit and get to know our friendly church family.

We are enjoying the second day of our B.C. Preachers’ conference. We heard from Pastor Steven White and are now hearing from Pastor Shane Davis.
Come join us this morning at 11 am as we celebrate the most important date on the Christian calendar the Resurrection of Christ from the grave. Without the resurrection of Christ we would have no hope for the life hereafter. 1 Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
Fortunately, for the believer, we have a strong, living hope of eternal life in Heaven. Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
“Since Christ is the truth of God, we are successful in our search for truth only as we recognize Him. Whether all roads lead to Rome depends upon which way your face is turned. Follow a point of land out into the sea, and you find only ocean. With the back turned upon Jesus Christ all following after truth leads only into mist and darkness.” A.H. Strong

Check out the Radio NL interview with Jenn Baird this afternoon.
Jennifer Baird went for a short hike the afternoon of Monday, August 27th - she ran into trouble - and wouldn't be found until Wednesday evening.
KAMLOOPS — Jennifer Baird has been hiking in the Lac Du Bois Grasslands for 25 years, but all of that experience couldn't prepare her for what happened Monday afternoon.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST
One of our church members, Jennifer Baird is missing. She appears to have gone for a hike in the Lac Du Bois grasslands where she often goes. The specific area is Opax mountain. She didn't show up for work this afternoon and at 7 pm we found her car. The RCMP attempted to find a trail with their dog but were unsuccessful. Search and Rescue was deployed and send two teams in search of her. Pastor Gregory Vaal went with one of the teams and no trace was found of her. The search was called off for the night and will begin at first light with drones and later with the RCMP helicopter, followed by a more thorough ground search. The last known contact that she made was when she left a Tim Hortons staff function at 9 pm on Sunday. We think its very possible that she went hiking sometime Monday. If anyone has had contact with her since that time or has any information on the hike she was planning please private msg us or call the RCMP. Pastor Gregory Vaal will be joining the search in the morning and will have intermittent cell service so if you need to reach him text messages or FB private message is probably best. If there are any that would like to join the search please contact Pastor Gregory. We do covet your prayers!
We were excited to kick off our Faith Bible Institute this evening with 18 students. If you are interested in joining you have one week to join. We are starting looking at the Doctrine of the End Times and the Doctrine of Christ.
We have enjoyed taking our Christmas programs to a few senior housing units in Kamloops. Last Sunday, Dec. 24, we took it to Bedford Manor and here is one of the recordings from that. We appreciated the opportunity to point people to Jesus Christ whose birth and coming to earth we celebrate at Christmas.
