How great are these Then...and Now images??!!
St. Andrew’s on the Square is Kamloops’ oldest public building, built in 1887 by local architect, surveyor, and Mayor R.H. Lee. The building was preserved and restored by the hard work of groups including the Kamloops Heritage Society and the City of Kamloops. It continues to stand as one of downtown Kamloops’ most well-preserved examples of architectural heritage. The site is no longer consecrated as a church, but it still serves its original role to bring the community together.

We will enter at the front door and exit by the side door. We are asking vendors to also have sanitizer on their tables and to help their guests by holding up things they would like to see or purchase. There will be regular sanitization in the building throughout the events. We will follow the provincial guidelines closely and will try to make the shows as safe as possible for vendors and shoppers alike.

How things change! There is St. Andrews, circled in green :)
Continuing the examination of the postcard image I posted yesterday, I noticed that one of the most beautiful and stately homes in the Kamloops West End could be see off to the left hand side of the photo. I've circled the home at 133 West Battle in blue and included a scan of the Heritage Advisory Committee photo and text showing the home as we normally see it. The lack of trees and vegetation in the postcard photo make you appreciate that the homes in the West End weren't always nestled in the trees !!
Would anyone like a free house? We just love the story behind this home :)
Any Takers? Charming North Vancouver heritage home is being given away for FREE! “It’s a simple house but it’s cute – well maintained. And it would be super ideal as a laneway house."
