The Kamloops Arts Council (KAC) is a registered charitable organization that is devoted to the development and enhancement of the arts in the Kamloops area. Now in our 51st year (founded 1968), we support all artists and art organizations and promote cooperation among them, government and business. We provide local artists and arts groups – visual artists, musicians, dancers and actors – with opportunities for exposure, networking and professional development. As part of our mandate, the KAC takes the arts out to the community – producing high-quality, year-round low- and no-cost arts programs, performances, workshops and events for all. We believe the arts are for everyone, and that they have the power to heal, transform, connect, and develop skills in children, youth, adults and seniors, including those in crisis. Art changes lives. Join us today!

Spring has officially sprung when the Kamloops Regional Farmers' Market opens! While downtown getting some fresh flowers, vegetables, honey or jam, make sure you swing by the Old Courthouse to see our current exhibits by Chris Wenger and Kamloops Artists!

In case you haven’t heard yet:
.
Posted @withregram • @castanetkamloops The Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market is getting ready for their 44th season, starting April 17! 👏👏

For opening day, hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on St. Paul Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. They will run every Saturday until Oct. 30, regardless of the weather.
Midweek markets will be on Wednesday this year, beginning on May 5. These will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. just outside the TNRD Library on Victoria Street.

Like 2020, this year's market will be slightly different, with masks being mandatory in the market area, and other COVID-19 protocols that can be found via CASTANETKAMLOOPS.NET or @bccdcfoundation website.

❤ Curbside pickup will be available as long as orders are prearranged and prepaid with the vendors or www.localline.ca/kamloopsfarmersmarket

Organizers expect the market to see a similar showing as previous years, with farmers, prepared food, artisans and crafters.

Non-food vendors are allowed to attend once again, and all products, food and otherwise, are baked or grown in British Columbia, with the majority from around Kamloops.
The 400 block of Victoria Street will be closed to accommodate the market once the season gets underway.
For more information and updates, check out the Kamloops Regional Farmers’ Market on social media.

BFA Exhibition – Thompson Rivers University

TRU’s BFA exhibition, Perceptions is open and running through May 15th.

In response to the current situation and as an opportunity to take-in an alternate approach this year’s group is taking a hybrid approach to the exhibition. Some of the students are exhibiting their work in TRU’s Art Gallery (with scheduled visiting hours for up to six people at a time) and other students exhibiting their work at off-site locations downtown and in Sahali, including street-facing windows. A print-based catalogue will be made available during the latter part of the exhibition.

04/23/2021

WCT and Chimera have joined forces to co-create a one-time event that is both a combination of their respective festivals and something completely new, the Remergence Festival. The word, “remergence,” which some might argue isn’t really a word, brings to mind several different ideas: a coming together, a rise out of the depths, and a return to something better.

See the post below for more information! Starting May 5th to 15th!

We are delighted to announce some happy news. WCT is proud to be partnering with Chimera Theatre to bring you Kamloops' first online arts festival. The "Remergence Festival" runs from the May 5th - 15th. This festival is the lovechild of WCT's Pandemic Playhouse Series, which was put on hold in November, and Chimera's Hydra Festival, which was facing the daunting challenge and expense of producing a live-streamed event this year. This new venture is a perfect example of the amazing collaborations between local arts groups that have been the silver lining of this pandemic, and - as the not-quite-a-word name suggests - it represents a coming together, a rise out of the depths and a return to something better.

24 groups, featuring local musicians, actors, improvisors and variety acts will be spread out over the ten day period and live- streamed from both the Pavilion and Stage House Theatres. There will be a Free Family Friendly Matinée on Saturday, May 8th, and other bonus activities and conversations. To add to the festival feel, audience members and performers will be able to connect and converse in our Virtual Pavilion Theatre Lobby on a service called Gather Town (available for Opening and Closing Nights, May 5th and 15th), as well as a Facebook Group that is open to everyone.

Full-Festival Passes are on sale now for $150 at Kamloops Live! Box Office (www.kamloopslive.ca), and nightly tickets (good for all 3 acts in a given night) will go on sale on April 21st. Regular tickets are $20, and there are flexible COVID Relief tickets available, as well as a ticket tier for those who want to further support the festival. Anyone who purchases a Full-Festival Pass before April 21st will be entered into a draw for an additional pass to share with a friend and a festival poster!

Go to http://www.remergencefestival.ca for more details, including schedules, giveaways, and food & beverage partners, which will be rolled out over the coming weeks.

Also, please join the Facebook group to get updates and connect with fellow audience members and performers:

Hello Art lovers and artists. I and my Friend Uday Padia have created a website - www.artrade.ca It is like a Kijiji just for the trading of art. ArTrade is a platform that allows the new, emerging and pro artists of Kamloops to sell their artwork by posting it for sale on artrade.ca. The art-lovers of Kamloops who wish to buy paintings from artists locally can visit the website and contact the artist/seller. Feel free to provide feedback and opinions to make this website more user-friendly and interactive or submit a query! Note: this website is still in development phase so please bear with us. Canadian College of Performing Arts National Audition Tour & FREE Audition Workshop - KAMLOOPS FEBRUARY 24, 1 pm @ NUANCE DANCE STUDIO 253 Victoria Street. Turn your passion into your career! Apply to the Canadian College of Performing Arts today and Audition Live in Kamloops. Christopher Weddell, veteran director, CCPA Acting instructor, and founding member of Bard On The Beach, will be offering a free 90 minute audition workshop with Q&A to help emerging artists prepare for the profession or for their auditions to any program they may be considering. Students are welcome to attend the workshop with no commitment to auditioning for the program, and parents as well as students in Grades 10 & 11 are encouraged to attend as well. It will also be an opportunity to get more information on our programs for future consideration and to speak with a working professional about a career in the performing arts. This on your feet, active workshop will guide you through many of the challenges of the audition process. Finding a way to make auditions enjoyable and work for you is one of the best lessons an actor can learn. Please prepare 4-5 lines of text (a very short piece of monologue), or an a ca****la excerpt from a song, that you can work with. The workshop will be followed by a Q&A session with Mr. Weddell. For questions or to reserve your spot in the workshop email [email protected] .
