Today is a sad day for ESLA as we have been informed of the passing of Danish SLT Bent Kjaer.
Apart from being a very important figure in the Danish community of SLTs, Bent dedicated almost 3 decades of his life to CPLOL.
He was a signatory on the Consitution Charter of CPLOL in 1988 and was on the Executive Committee, first as treasurer then as General Secretary until 2009.
He was also webmaster until 2014 and remained active in CPLOL until 2017.

Our condolences go to his family, and also to our Danish colleagues at Audiologopaedisk Forening (ALF), member of ESLA, and all the Danish SLP community.

Farewell our dear friend. And thank you for all your hard work for the European SLT community.

Today is the International Day of Families👨‍👧‍👦 ‍👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 👩‍👩‍👦

What do we as a speech therapy organisation have to do with this?

Well, first and foremost, children acquire language in interaction with their families or in family-like structures. If children have a delay in language development, home practice and family support is essential. This is equally true for patients who are dependent on voice, speech, language, swallowing or respiratory treatment due to a chronic illness such as Parkinson's disease or following a stroke or COVID-19 disease. Family support, whether directly in practicing at home or indirectly through words of encouragement, contributes to the success of speech therapy interventions.

We would like to thank families who support our clients and patients for their patience, understanding and care!
